A minor tryptamine alkaloid found alongside psilocybin and psilocin in most psilocybin mushrooms, structurally similar to psilocybin but far less studied.

Example: It's one of the real alkaloids a 2023 analytical study found in the "Church of Psilomethoxin"'s product (see Psilomethoxin above) — when a claimed novel compound turned out not to exist, baeocystin was part of what was actually there instead.
