An effect that occurs when two or more substances are taken together that wouldn't occur with either alone — ranging from harmless to dangerous depending on the combination.

Example: Ibogaine's cardiac risk gets substantially worse combined with other QT-prolonging drugs (see our ibogaine coverage), and ayahuasca's MAOI content can trigger serotonin syndrome with SSRIs or SNRIs — real risks, unlike the generally low risk of psilocybin or LSD combined with most antidepressants.
