A state of genuine scientific uncertainty about which of two treatments is better — the ethical prerequisite for randomizing patients to one or the other in a trial. Loses force fast once a drug's effects are dramatic and obvious to the patient, which is part of psychedelic research's broader blinding problem (see Double-Blind Study above).
