Bioethicists Are Trying to Draw the Line Between "Learning" and "Conscious" in Lab-Grown Brain Tissue
As brain organoids get more sophisticated, a new AJOB Neuroscience paper takes on a question that's about to matter more: when an organoid learns a task, is that intelligence, or is it something closer to felt experience? The paper argues those are different questions with different ethical stakes, and that electrical complexity or learning behavior alone doesn't settle either one.
